Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009) — pop-up pumpkin patch screening

Flowers & Weeds is hosting an outdoor screening of Fantastic Mr. Fox on Saturday, October 24, at 7 PM. It's part of a pop-up pumpkin patch night presented by Arkadin Cinema & Bar, so the movie is just one piece of the evening.

Fantastic Mr. Fox is Wes Anderson's stop-motion take on Roald Dahl's children's novel. It follows Mr. Fox, a compulsive chicken thief turned newspaper reporter, who settles his family into a treehole right next to three poultry farms run by the vicious farmers Boggis, Bunce and Bean. The voice cast is a deep one: George Clooney leads, with Meryl Streep, Jason Schwartzman, Willem Dafoe, Michael Gambon and Bill Murray.

Because it's an outdoor screening, the whole thing is tied to the season. The venue is Flowers & Weeds, a garden shop at 3201 Cherokee St in St. Louis, and the night is built around a pop-up pumpkin patch. The movie is the main feature, but the setting—a garden shop in October—is a big part of the draw. If you're coming, keep in mind it's outside, so dress for the weather.

Tickets are $10, with a pumpkin add-on available. The screening starts at 7 PM on Saturday, October 24, at Flowers & Weeds, 3201 Cherokee St, presented by Arkadin Cinema & Bar.
