Weekly Sunday family-style chicken dinner served at The Lemp Mansion, the historic St. Louis house of brewer William Lemp.
The Lemp Mansion is serving its Family Style Sunday Chicken Dinner this Sunday, October 18, at 3322 DeMenil Place in St. Louis. It's one of the three things the mansion is known for, alongside its work as a wedding and overnight venue and its reputation as a haunted destination.
The house itself dates back to the 1860s, when it was the home of William Lemp, one of the city's brewers. Richard Pointer bought it in 1973 and, with his family, restored it to the kind of warm, elegant grandeur the Lemp family would have known. The Pointers have run it ever since, and the Sunday dinner has become a staple of that legacy.
Beyond the dining room, the mansion has a bit of a dark side. CNN Travel named it one of the top five haunted locations in the world, and it's been the subject of plenty of books, television programs, and paranormal investigations. One of those is Lemp: The Haunting History by Stephen Walker, which many consider the definitive anthology of the family's history. If you're into that side of things, there's plenty to dig into while you're there.
