Interactive murder-mystery dinner theater in which guests follow a fictional investigation while enjoying a multi-course meal at the historic Lemp Mansion.
Jest Murder Mystery Company is running Dead! Like Me. at the Historic Lemp Mansion on Friday, October 23, as part of a season that spans Fridays and Saturdays from August 28 through October 31. It's a comedy-mystery dinner theater, which means you're not just sitting and watching a play—you're part of it. You'll follow a fictional investigation while eating a multi-course meal, talking to the actors and piecing together clues to figure out whodunit. The show is billed as a lively period-piece mystery with audience participation, so you'll be doing more than just eating and watching.
Dead! Like Me. takes an afterlife theme and runs with it. The plot centers on the annual meeting of The Brotherhood of Obituary Occupants (BOO), a gathering of a famous cast of the deceased, with P. T. Barnum up to his usual tricks. The Lemp Mansion itself adds to the mood: it's a St. Louis landmark built in 1868 that now operates as a restaurant and inn, and the house runs these mystery dinners year-round, with the shows changing by the season. If you've never done one before, the format is the same every time—dinner and a whodunit that you help solve—but the story changes.
