A daytime stand-up comedy showcase featuring local comedians, serving as a fundraiser for the local venue Heavy Anchor.
The Comedy Matinee is back at Blackthorn Pub and Pizza on Saturday, October 17, from 2 PM to 3:30 PM. It's a ninety-minute stand-up showcase, and this one is a fundraiser for Heavy Anchor, a local venue that was hit by a car. Every cent from ticket sales goes toward repairs and paying the staff, so if you've spent any time there, this is a direct way to help them get back on their feet.
On the bill are Chris Cyr, Tiel Pearce, Brandon Judd, Ella Fritts, and Chad Wallace, with Jeremy Hellwig hosting. It's a solid group of some of the city's most talented stand-ups, and they're all working within the same ninety-minute window, so you get a good variety of voices in one sitting without it dragging into the evening.
The Comedy Matinee bills itself as St. Louis's only daytime comedy showcase and as the best comedy show in town, aimed squarely at non-night owls and anyone who wants their entertainment finished by 4 PM. It's a good fit if you're not the type to stay out late or if you'd rather have your Saturday afternoon sorted and your evening still open. The show is open to over-18s.
