Screening of the Italian horror film Cemetery Man, a gory zombie movie and offbeat black comedy, at the microcinema Arkadin Cinema & Bar.
Arkadin Cinema & Bar is screening Cemetery Man on Thursday, October 29, at 8 PM. It's a 1994 Italian horror film based on the novel by Tiziano Sclavi and directed by Michele Soavi, with Rupert Everett playing the cemetery groundskeeper Francesco Dellamorte and Anna Falchi as the enigmatic young woman he falls for. The film is billed as a gory zombie movie, an offbeat black comedy, and a sweeping gothic romance rolled into one, and it follows a man whose dead refuse to stay dead and his growing entanglement with a woman whose husband has recently died.
This particular print was restored by Severin Films, and the movie is widely regarded as a late masterpiece of Italian horror—quirky, gory, and romantic, and often cited as a perfect lead-in to Halloween. If you're into the weird side of the genre, it's exactly the kind of thing that works best on a big screen with a crowd.
