A guided tour of St Michael's Church with historian Andy Skinner, exploring its history from the Norman Conquest to WWII.
Tudor House & Garden is hosting a guided tour of St Michael's Church on Tuesday 22 September, led by historian Andy Skinner. It runs from 11am to 12.30pm, and the tour starts in St Michael's Square, just outside Tudor House on Bugle Street.
St Michael's is the oldest surviving building in Southampton, and it's stood right at the heart of the city's history for centuries. It's seen the Norman Conquest, the French Raid of 1338, and the Second World War, so there's a lot to unpack. Andy Skinner will be leading the way on this guided walk, unpicking the building's past as it stands in St Michael's Square.
The session is part of Weekday Wonderings, a weekday initiative from Southampton City Council Cultural Services. The programme changes every time, alternating between talks, tours and something entirely different, so if you've been to one, the next will be something else again.

One practical thing to keep in mind: the route takes in outdoor sections and uneven floors, so suitable footwear is advised. Tickets are £10, and the tour runs from 11am to 12.30pm on Tuesday 22 September, starting in St Michael's Square outside Tudor House & Garden.
