A community gathering bringing the sights, sounds and flavours of Thailand to the South Coast with traditional street food, cultural performances and interactive workshops.
The Southampton Thai Festival takes over Hoglands Park on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 July, bringing the sights, sounds and flavours of Thailand to the city. It's an annual community gathering, and this year it transforms the park into a cultural retreat for the weekend.
The food is a big part of it: street food stalls serve up regional Thai specialties like Pad Thai, Som Tum green papaya salad and Massaman curry, and there's a dedicated Thai Beer Garden serving Singha beer. On the performance side, you'll find traditional Thai classical dance, contemporary K-pop dance showcases and live Muay Thai martial arts demonstrations. There's also a Family Fun Zone with hula-hooping competitions and a Craft Corner where you can make traditional Thai elephant masks and lotus flowers.
Tubtim Warin performs both days, and Oley Longley plays on Sunday only. The festival is held in Hoglands Park, which is fully accessible, so it's easy to get around with a pram or a wheelchair. The organisers describe it as a family-friendly environment where you can experience Thai traditions without needing a passport, and it's open across the whole weekend, so you can drop in on Saturday or Sunday.

Tickets are £6.50 for adults, £3.25 for children aged 5 to 15, and £4.88 for OAPs. If you're coming as a group, there's a family ticket for two adults and two children at £16.26. The festival runs from 4 to 5 July at Hoglands Park, Southampton, SO14 1JZ.
