Award-winning theatrical ghost tour with live actors through the historic streets of Southampton, exploring the city's darkest secrets.
Southampton Ghost Tours are taking to the streets again on Wednesday 30 September, with the tour starting from Tudor House and Garden in the city centre. It's a theatrical outdoor walk that follows Southampton's darkest secrets through the historic streets, and it's not just a storyteller leading the way — there are live actors and scares built into the route.
The walk hits several of the city's most notorious spots, including the Southampton Vaults, Tudor House, Westgate, and The Red Lion, and it includes access to some of the Vaults themselves. Along the way, the stories focus on the people who left their mark on the city: the King's Guard who died in battle, and Francis Cartwright, who lost his life during the French raids. It's as much about the local history as it is about the ghosts.
It's a well-recognised tour, too. It's picked up three semi-final awards and two bronze final awards for Best Event and for the 'Here to there' tour at the Southampton Star Awards, and it holds a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence. The organisers bill it as the city's number one ghost tour, and the theatrical side of things — the actors and the scares — is what sets it apart from a standard historical walk.
