Scribble - Free Zine Making Workshop

Scribble is back at John Hansard Gallery on Thursday 20 August, a free zine-making workshop run by @artizineuk, who return to Southampton with their hands-on sessions. It's a two-hour workshop where you cut and stick your way through a zine, and it's open to everyone, so you don't need any prior experience to get involved.

The prompt for the session is public space. You'll spend the two hours taking your thoughts and ideas about the spaces we share and turning them into a one-of-a-kind zine to take home. It's a tactile process — cutting, sticking, and arranging — rather than something you'll be doing on a screen, and since it's open to all, it's as much about the making as it is about what you end up with.

The venue is John Hansard Gallery, part of the University of Southampton. It's one of the UK's leading contemporary art galleries, showing work from artists across the world and playing a part in the city's cultural life with inclusive, collaborative and open spaces. Its programme runs exhibitions, commissions, partnerships, and learning and research projects, and this workshop sits on the learning side of things.

It's a free session, and since it's open to everyone, you can just turn up and get stuck in. The workshop runs for two hours, so you'll have plenty of time to work through your ideas and leave with something you've made yourself.
