Art for All: Autumn Watercolour Vignettes (7 yrs+)

Southampton City Art Gallery is running a watercolour workshop on Tuesday 27 October, as part of its Art for All family programme. It's called Autumn Watercolour Vignettes, and the whole thing is open to anyone aged seven and up, so it works as a family outing or something you do on your own.

The session is all about 'wet on wet' watercolour techniques, where you paint into damp paper to let the colours bleed and blend into each other. The organisers say the Art for All programme takes its cue from the season, so when autumn arrives, the subject follows—which makes sense given the timing. All the materials are provided, so you don't need to bring your own paints or brushes.

One of the better things about it is that it's not just for kids. Adults can book a participant ticket in their own right, and if you're coming along to support a young person, you can get a free accompanying adult ticket. It's a good way to spend a morning or afternoon with a younger one without having to worry about who's in charge of the paints.

There are three sessions to choose from on the day: 10.30am to 12 noon, 12.30pm to 2pm, and 2.30pm to 4pm. Tickets are £8.00 per participating child or adult, and that free accompanying adult ticket is only for those bringing a participant.
