Push & Play takes over Hoglands Park on Sunday 23 August, a community festival marking the opening of the city's new skatepark. It's one of the summer events put on by GO! Southampton, the city's Business Improvement District, which is sponsoring it through its annual Event Sponsorship Scheme.
The day is built around the skatepark itself. There are skate jams running throughout, with an open one for anyone to get involved in and a separate jam for marginalised genders. If you're not on a board, there's still plenty to do: live music and DJs provide the soundtrack, and art activities run alongside the skating, so you can hang out and watch without needing to be part of the action. It's designed as a community day, with the new park as the centre of it.

As for the practicals, it's at Hoglands Park on Queensway (SO14 1JZ), and entry is free. The whole thing falls on Sunday 23 August, so it's a good one to keep in mind for a bank holiday weekend.
