Ghosts of Tudor House Tour with Emily Pierce

Emily Pierce is leading a ghost tour of Tudor House & Garden on Saturday 31 October, with two sessions to choose from: 11am to 12pm and 1pm to 2pm. It's a fitting date for it, too, as the tour falls on Halloween.

Most of us know Tudor House as one of Southampton's most iconic buildings, but there's a lot to it that doesn't usually make the brochures. It's been around for more than 800 years, starting out as King John's Palace before growing into the Tudor house that still stands today. Over the centuries it's passed through several owners, including John Whytegod, Walter and Jane William, and Sir John Dawtrey, who created the house as it remains now. The building is said to be so haunted that former custodians and owners have refused to enter certain parts after dark. Among the reported ghosts are a dark spirit wandering the corridors and a young lady seen on the first floor.

Emily Pierce, a historian and paranormal enthusiast, takes the group from the attic down to the cellar, stopping at the sites of these reported hauntings along the way. She'll be talking through recent research into these encounters, and the tour opens up areas of the building that are normally closed to the public. Because of the age of the house, parts of the route are only accessible via steps, so it may be inaccessible for those with limited mobility.

Tickets are £12 per session, and that includes museum admission on the day of the tour. The house is on Bugle Street, Southampton, SO14 2AD.
