Book Swap Event by Read Easy

Read Easy are running a book swap at Southampton Central Library on Saturday 22 August, from 11am to 2pm. It's a simple exchange: you bring along fiction books for adults in good condition and take home the same number for free. If you're not swapping, you can still pick up books for £1 each.

The swap is run by Read Easy Southampton & Isle of Wight, a charity that helps adults learn to read or improve their reading skills through free, confidential one-to-one coaching. It's a local branch of a wider cause, and the book swap is one of the ways they get people through the door. The session works on a one-for-one basis, so if you bring three books, you leave with three. If you've got a pile of fiction you've already read and want to refresh your shelves without spending anything, it's a straightforward way to do it.

Local author Claire Gradidge, the charity's patron, is expected to be there to meet attendees, so if you're a reader, it's a chance to have a chat with a writer while you're browsing. The focus is on adult fiction in good condition, so keep that in mind when you're sorting through your collection before you head down.
