The smash-hit stage adaptation of the iconic 1985 film, featuring Axel Duffy as Marty McFly on its first UK tour.
Back to the Future The Musical is coming to the Mayflower Theatre from 8 June to 3 July 2027, as part of its first UK tour. It's the stage adaptation of the 1985 film, brought to the stage by the movie's original creators, Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis, and directed by Tony Award-winner John Rando.
The story follows Marty McFly, who gets transported back to 1955 in a time machine built by the eccentric scientist Doc Brown. From there, he has to race against time to fix the present and find a way back to the future. It's a familiar plot if you know the film, but seeing it played out on stage is a different thing entirely.
Axel Duffy takes on the role of Marty McFly for this run. The production has picked up Best New Musical at the Olivier Awards, the WhatsOnStage Awards, and the Broadway World Awards, so it's arrived here with some serious credentials. The music is a mix of original songs by multi-Grammy winners Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard, alongside the hits from the movie: 'The Power of Love', 'Johnny B. Goode', 'Earth Angel' and 'Back in Time'. And yes, there's a show-stopping DeLorean on stage.
