Drinks reception, talk by Dame Hilary Chapman on her journey from the NHS to royal service, and a hot buffet dinner at Cutlers' Hall.
Professor Dame Hilary Chapman DBE RN is speaking at Cutlers' Hall Hospitality on Tuesday 17 November, as part of the Women of The Cutlers series. Her talk is titled Health Service to Royal Service: Different Paths, Shared Purpose, and it traces her journey from the NHS to her current role as His Majesty The King's personal representative in South Yorkshire.
Chapman was born in Sheffield and spent years as a registered nurse specialising in critical care, cardiac and trauma, before moving into her role as Lord-Lieutenant of South Yorkshire. The talk looks at those two very different careers—one on the front line of the health service, the other representing the Crown—and the common thread that runs through them. It's a local story, told by someone who's worked her way from the wards of the NHS to the highest levels of royal service.
The evening is hosted by The Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire, which was founded in 1624 and has sat at the heart of Sheffield and South Yorkshire's manufacturing heritage for more than 400 years. From its base at Cutlers' Hall, it continues to champion the region's industries. The night is structured as a drinks reception, followed by the speaker session and a hot buffet dinner, so it's as much about the company as it is about the talk.
