An evening of high-energy metal with Girlschool, Alcatrazz and Raven at Corporation.
Girlschool, Alcatrazz and Raven are all playing Corporation on Wednesday 2 December, under the title Winter Metal Meltdown. It's a triple bill of NWOBHM and hard rock, so you've got three bands on one night rather than a single headliner.
Girlschool are the most familiar name of the lot. They've been around since the late seventies and were one of the few all-female bands in the early New Wave of British Heavy Metal scene, known for that raw, dual-guitar sound. Alcatrazz bring a different edge, with a history that goes back to the early eighties and a sound that leans more towards the melodic, hard-rock end of the spectrum. Then there's Raven, who've been playing since the seventies too, and who describe their own style as athletic rock — a nod to the high energy they bring to their live sets.
With three bands on the bill, the night is built around a full evening of metal rather than a single act. Girlschool, Alcatrazz and Raven each get their own slot, so you'll see all three in one go. It's a mid-week date, too, which puts it on a Wednesday night rather than a weekend.
