Workshop run by Graham Grimm to turn a plain birchwood wand into a personalised, decorated magic wand for children aged 5 and over.
Grimm & Co is hosting a wand-making workshop for children on Friday 30 October, starting at 10:30. It's run by the venue's proprietor, Graham Grimm, and staged by his self-styled 'Shop Elves', who take a plain birchwood wand and turn it into a personalised, decorated piece of magic. Each wand comes with its own energy source — a magical affinity gem and elements to help channel magic — plus a written activation spell to get it working.
There's a bit of roleplay to it, too: the Grimm & Co story goes that Graham only sells wands to those who swear never to use them for evil magic. It's the kind of thing that works best when you lean into it, and the whole session is built around that. The workshop is aimed at children aged 5 and over, up to 18, and adults have to stay with their child throughout. It's a morning activity, so it fits well if you're planning a half-term outing with the kids.

Grimm & Co is over at Ship Hill, Rotherham, S60 2HG, and it's recently become a Family Hub Satellite, so it's well-set up for this sort of thing. The session runs on Friday 30 October from 10:30, and tickets are £11.55.
