Victorian-themed Christmas market with more than 80 stalls of Sheffield-made goods, festive food and drink, fairground rides, Santa's Grotto and live music.
The Victorian Christmas Market returns to Kelham Island Museum on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December, a festive tradition that comes back to the museum each year. It's set around the museum's gaslamps, and this time it's running across the whole weekend: 10am to 6pm on Saturday, and 10am to 5pm on Sunday.
More than 80 stalls gather Sheffield-made wares, gifts and seasonal goods, with festive food and drink alongside them — wood-fired pizza and mulled wine are on the menu. For the kids, there are fairground rides and games, walkabout characters and the Snow Queen on stilts, plus Santa's Workshop and Santa's Grotto. There's also a Selfie Sleigh to have a go on. The Music Hall Stage plays local brass bands, musicians, choirs and carollers, while traditional dancing, magic shows and a street organ round out the entertainment.
One thing that sets this apart from a standalone market is that the museum galleries stay open. You can follow Sheffield's steel story and feel the floor shake as the mighty River Don Engine runs on the hour, every hour. It's a good way to fit in a proper look at the museum while you're there for the stalls.
