The thirteenth Sheffield Print Fair, with 43 stalls of printmakers, live printmaking demonstrations and a kids' workshop.
The Sheffield Print Fair returns to The Millennium Gallery on Saturday 31 October, its thirteenth year running. It's put on by the Sheffield Print Fair and supported by local printmakers and companies, and it brings together a huge range of printmaking under one roof. There are 43 stalls of artists and printmakers from Sheffield and beyond, so you'll see woodcut, mezzotint and linocut alongside screen-print, wood-engraving, digital prints, monoprints, intaglio, etching, collagraph, drypoint and riso. If you're not entirely sure what all those are, it's a good place to see them side by side and work out which ones you actually like.
It's not just about browsing the stalls, either. There are live demonstrations running throughout the day in a large workshop room downstairs, where you can watch printmaking in action. Around 2.30 pm, there's a 'have a go' kids workshop in the same space, so it's one of those days that works as well for families as it does for anyone just coming to look. The first 50 people through the door get a free tote bag printed by Sheffield screen-printers Hunk Print, featuring artwork donated by Sheffield-based printmaker Mick Marston. There's also a print raffle for visitors and the annual 'Printmakers' Printmaker Award' for the exhibitors.
