Seasonal choral concert by the University of Sheffield Chamber Choir, led by Helen Denning, at Firth Hall.
The University of Sheffield Chamber Choir are performing at Firth Hall on Saturday 12 December, their seasonal concert for the winter. It's a student ensemble that puts on choral works throughout the year, and this one is presented by the university itself.
The choir is led by Helen Denning, and the evening is built around choral music — the kind of thing they've made a habit of doing as part of their seasonal programme. Since it's a student group, you're hearing a choir made up of people studying at the university, rather than a professional outfit, and the whole thing is put on by the institution they're part of.
As for the night itself, it's a straightforward choral concert. There's no set list to tease out here, just the choir singing through a programme of choral works, with Helen Denning directing. It's the sort of thing that sits comfortably as a winter evening out in the city, and since it's a student ensemble, it's a good chance to hear what's coming out of the university's music scene.

On the practical side, doors open at 19:00 and the concert runs from 19:30 to 21:30, so it's a full two-hour set. Seating is unreserved, which means you just take whatever's free when you arrive. If you're bringing anyone younger, under-14s have to be accompanied by an adult, and there's a limit of six tickets per customer. Tickets are £14.50 full price, including fees, and £7.50 for concessions.
