Free eight-hour live music celebration marking the first anniversary of the Under the Wire music night, featuring solo acts, bands and jam sessions.
Under the Wire is celebrating its first anniversary with an eight-hour music marathon at The Church House on Sunday 25 October, running from 2.30pm until around 10.30pm. It's a free entry afternoon and evening, so you can drift in and out as you like rather than committing to the whole eight hours.
The bill mixes solo acts, full bands and jam sessions. Alexandra Wild, Harri Larkin, Paul Kenny, Junaina Rahman and Rose Ingalill all take turns as soloists, while Babies Floating in Space, Slothstalgia and the Under the Wire Showcase Band bring the full-band sound. The Ryan Taylor Trio closes the night, with a jam session on the programme to finish.
It's a bit of a milestone for the night, which started twelve months ago as a weekly 8pm gathering at the Porter Cottage on Sharrow Vale Road. Musician Dan Millson launched it with the help of friends and fellow performers as a night where musicians could come together and play. Since then, it's grown into a grassroots community bringing together new and experienced players, helped musicians onto festival stages, and featured in events like the Sheffield Food Festival and Tramlines. It's now building towards becoming a booking agency.

The original night still runs every Wednesday at 8pm at the Porter Cottage, so if you like the anniversary, you've got a regular spot to keep coming back to. The celebration itself is free entry at The Church House, from 2.30pm until about 10.30pm on Sunday 25 October.
