Level 1 course on the Maitland Concept and foundations of manual therapy, taught in weekend sessions to IFOMPT standards.
The MaitlandĀ® Concept | Level 1 | Foundations of Manual Therapy kicks off at The Physios on Friday 30 October, 9 am. It's the first step in a long-haul course that runs from that date right through to 5 September 2027, with the training broken into weekend sessions. If you're working full-time, that's the bit that makes it doable: you don't have to clear your calendar for weeks on end, just a few days at a time over the next year.
Level 1, Foundations of Manual Therapy, covers 20 days of training in total. To pass, you'll need to complete at least 80% of the course, so there's a bit of leeway if a weekend doesn't work out, but you'll still want to be there for the vast majority of it. The Maitland Concept itself is a structured, patient-centred way of assessing and managing movement-related disorders, and it blends detailed clinical examination with an evidence-informed treatment process and hands-on techniques. It's taught to the standards of the International Federation of Orthopaedic Manual Therapists (IFOMPT) and is accredited by the International Manual Therapy Association (IMTA).
