Live gig by the Amsterdam indie noir five-piece The Klittens, with support from Thee Mightees, to mark the release of their debut album 'Have A Heart'.
The Klittens play Sidney & Matilda on Tuesday 27 October, with support from Thee Mightees. The night is part of Red Telephone Presents.
They're a five-piece from Amsterdam who call their sound 'indie noir' ā pop songs with dark sentiments and a punk ethos. The influences they list run from The Ronettes and Kate Bush to MF Doom and Dry Cleaning, so the set should pull from a fair few different directions. The band formed in 2019 and have been releasing singles since early 2020, and this show coincides with the release of their debut album, Have A Heart, which they've put out in their own fashion.
On stage, that's YaĆ«l Dekker on vocals, Winnie Conradi and Katja Kahana on guitar, Marrit Meinema on bass, and Laurie Zantinge on drums. They describe themselves as five foul-mouthed but good-natured musicians, untrained but never unbothered, and capable of playing for weeks on end ā a band for those with a knack for happy songs and sad sentiments. They run a fully DIY approach to everything, from songwriting and releasing music to tour management.
