British alternative rock band CUD play Sidney & Matilda on Sidney Street.
Cud are playing Sidney & Matilda on Thursday 29 October, their first Sheffield date in a while. They're celebrating four decades of indie classics, and the set is built around that: early earworms, chart hits and new melodies. It's a long run to look back on, and the night pulls from across it, so you'll hear the older songs alongside the newer ones.
If you're not familiar with them, Cud are a British alternative rock band formed in Leeds in 1987. Their sound blends alternative rock with elements of funk, a combination that's sat them somewhere between the indie scene and something a bit more danceable. They've been around since the late eighties, so the four decades they're marking cover a good stretch of their history.
On the night, they're the only act on the bill, so the whole evening is theirs. The set will run through the early songs and the chart hits, with new melodies mixed in, rather than keeping the eras separate. It's a retrospective that doesn't stop at the old stuff, with the newer material getting its own space alongside the songs from the early days.
