Bouldering social for the LGBT+ community held at The Climbing Hanger in Sheffield.
TCH Fri-gay is back at The Climbing Hanger in Sheffield on Friday 30 October, the bouldering social that runs as a regular for the city's LGBT+ community. It's a night for climbing together rather than competing, and it's open to all members of the community, so it doesn't matter if you're a seasoned climber or someone who's never touched a wall before.
If you've never been, the format is straightforward: you spend the evening bouldering with other queer people in the gym. Bouldering is climbing on shorter walls without ropes, with thick mats underneath to catch you, so you don't need any gear of your own to get started. It's as much about the social side as the climbing, and it's run at The Climbing Hanger, one of the city's main indoor climbing centres.
Because it's a social, it's a good way to meet people in the Sheffield climbing scene who you might not otherwise cross paths with. You can spend as much or as little time on the wall as you like, and there's plenty of space to hang about and chat between goes. It's a low-pressure environment, so if you're nervous about your first session, you'll be in good company.
