Intimate solo acoustic show by Peter Doherty, featuring fan favourites from The Libertines and Babyshambles.
Peter Doherty plays the Crucible Playhouse on Saturday 17 October, part of a run of intimate shows presented by Music in the Round. It's his first solo acoustic tour in ten years, and the set is built around fan favourites from across his back catalogue, including hits from The Libertines and Babyshambles. He'll be working through those songs one by one, just him and his guitar, rather than a full band.
He's described as an artist not afraid to go with the flow, and his shows are known for being heartfelt, authentic and incident-packed. There's a bit of a reputation for the unexpected here, too — he's even been known to bring his massive husky dogs on stage. It's that loose, unpredictable side of his live act that usually makes these small-room dates stand out from the larger ones.
If you've followed him since the early Libertines days, you'll recognise the songs, but stripped back to their acoustic bones. The set draws from the whole run of his work, so it's as much about the old favourites as anything else. The Crucible Playhouse is a small space, and that's where the acoustic format works best — close enough to see what's happening on stage and hear the songs without a wall of sound around them.

It's a single date in Sheffield, part of the wider tour. If you're planning to go, it's worth keeping in mind it's an acoustic show in a small room, so the atmosphere will be a good deal more stripped-back than a full band gig.
