A Sunday session celebrating the Northern sound with house, UK garage and tech house, strictly for over-18s.
Sterling brings Day & Night to Peddler Warehouse on Sunday 8 November, with Big Ang, Mella Dee and Silva Bumpa on the bill. It's a Sunday session built around the Northern sound, and the music runs from bleeps and bloops to warps and waves, with the unmistakable clang of the Steel City running through it. The whole afternoon leans on house, UK garage and tech house, so it's a day for dancing rather than standing around.
That Northern sound is the whole point here. The bleeps and bloops are the hallmarks of the bleep techno that came out of the North in the late eighties and early nineties, and the warps and waves are the more fluid, shifting textures that followed. The clang of the Steel City is the industrial, metallic edge that's always been part of Sheffield's electronic music, and that's what the session is built on. It's a celebration of the city's own dance music heritage, and the line-up is picked to fit that.
Big Ang, Mella Dee and Silva Bumpa are the three names on the bill, and they'll be taking turns across the afternoon. The music stays within the house, UK garage and tech house orbit, so you'll get the steady four-to-the-floor of house, the swing and shuffle of garage, and the stripped-back, clubby feel of tech house. It's a long session, so there's plenty of room for each of them to work their way through their sets.
