Josh Pugh

Josh Pugh plays Peddler Warehouse on Saturday 31 October, a matinee show that follows two sell-out tours. If you've come across him through the TV, you'll recognise the name: he's been on Live at the Apollo, Big Fat Quiz of Everything, Mock the Week, Would I Lie to You, The Last Leg and Hypothetical on Dave. He's also built a following on his weekly viral videos, so there's a fair bit of his work to catch online before you see it live.

He didn't start on the big screens, though. His first ever gig won a Funhouse Comedy gong show, and from there he picked up Best New Act at the 2014 Midlands Comedy Awards, English Comedian of the Year in 2016 and a Chortle Comedian To Watch in 2017. He's also served as Head Judge at the BBC New Comedy Awards and appeared on Match of the Day X.

As for the comedy itself, the reviews give you a good sense of what to expect. The Guardian called him 'deceptively clever' and Rolling Stone described him as 'a must-see stand up'. He's known for confident, clever writing that takes him on glorious tangents, so it's the kind of set that doesn't just stick to the punchlines but wanders off into the unexpected. This show comes after two sell-out tours, so it's a polished run rather than a first-go.

It's a matinee, so it's a daytime one rather than a late night. Doors open at 14:00 at Peddler Warehouse, 92 Burton Road, Sheffield, S3 8BX, and tickets are £28.00, which includes the booking fee.
