An evening of experimental dance music and live-coding with projections at Factory Floor, Kelham Island.
Elevate x Algorave 5 is at Factory Floor on Wednesday 28 October, running from 19:00 until midnight. It's the fifth edition of the collaboration, and the main feature is algorave.
If you've never come across it, algorave is algorithmic dance music written and performed live in front of the audience. The performers don't use pre-recorded tracks; they write the code that generates the sound in real time, so the music is being composed as you hear it. The code itself is projected onto the walls, alongside accompanying visuals that fill the room after sunset, so you can see the lines of text changing and shifting as the sound evolves. It's experimental dance music where the process is as much a part of the night as the music itself.
