Over-18s boogie and disco night with classics from Chic, Donna Summer and Earth Wind and Fire at the Foundry.
SoulJam returns to Foundry on Thursday 22 October, this time as 'The Return of the Disco'. It's their first night back at the venue since a sold-out freshers party the previous month, and the theme is exactly what it says on the tin: a night built around boogie anthems.
What that means in practice is a selection of disco classics from Chic, Sister Sledge, Donna Summer, Earth, Wind & Fire and Sylvester, all played over the dancefloor. If you know those names, you know the sound — the kind of four-to-the-floor disco that's meant for dancing rather than listening from the side. It's a fairly straightforward proposition: a few hours of boogie and funky music in a room that's built for it.
Foundry is in the Students Union on Western Bank in Broomhall, so it's a bit of a trek from the city centre, but it's a proper dancefloor space. The night runs from 11:30pm to 3:30am, so it's a late one that carries on well into the early hours. Entry is restricted to over-18s, and last entry is at 1am, so if you're coming from across town, you'll want to leave some time to get there before the doors close.

Tickets are £8 to £9, and with the late start and the 1am cutoff, it's the kind of night you build around rather than just drop into. If you're into disco and fancy a few hours of it in a proper room, this is a good shout.
