Slambarz's home show of emerging UK lyricists, with collectives Two2's Notts, Back Yours and Us Neva Dem and a collaborative cypher.
Slambarz are back in Sheffield on Monday 19 October at Sidney & Matilda with The Next Wave Vol 1. It's their first dedicated home show in the city in almost two years, following previous nights at The Leadmill, so it's a bit of a return for them.
The night is built around lyricism and grassroots music communities, and the line-up reflects that. Five emerging Sheffield artists take the stage, joined by collectives from across the country: Two2's Notts from Nottingham, Back Yours from London, and Us Neva Dem from Manchester. The whole thing closes with a collaborative cypher, which brings artists from all four cities together on one stage.
There's a bit more to it than just a one-off bill. The Next Wave was set up as a platform for emerging artists, connecting young talent with established creative communities across the UK. The night is staged in collaboration with Off the Shelf Festival of Words and is supported by public funding from Arts Council England. As part of that, 30 complimentary community access tickets are reserved for young people.
