Beginner-friendly silver-casting workshop led by Florence at Silver Psaltpot, with materials, three gemstones and a vegetarian lunch included.
Silver Psaltpot is running a silver casting workshop on Sunday 24 January, from 10am to 4pm at their studio on 3 Brincliffe Crescent in Sheffield S11. It's a six-hour day, so you'll want to clear your whole Sunday for it.
Florence leads the session, taking you through every step of the silver casting process from start to finish. The day is pitched for beginners and seasoned jewellery makers alike, so it works whether you've never touched a torch or you've already got a few pieces under your belt. Everyone leaves with their finished piece to keep or gift, and the silver needed to cast it, along with three gemstones, is included in the price. There's also a vegetarian lunch provided, plus tea, coffee and biscuits to keep you going through the afternoon.
It's a one-off specialist workshop, and Silver Psaltpot runs six blocks of jewellery-making classes across the year alongside these standalone sessions. They describe the one-offs as a way to try jewellery making before signing up for a full block, so if you've been curious about it but weren't sure about committing to a whole course, this is a good place to start. The session is for 18+ only, and the studio works to be fully accessible.
