A talk by Chartered Forensic Psychologist Dee Anand exploring the biological, cognitive and social forces that shape psychopathy, part of the Seed Talks series.
The Psychology of Psychopaths comes to Foundry at the Sheffield Students' Union on Tuesday 10 November, as part of the Seed Talks series. It's a talk led by Chartered Forensic Psychologist Dee Anand, who spends the session working through the biological, cognitive and social forces that shape psychopathy and the traits that define the condition. The whole thing is built around a few big questions: are psychopaths born or made, and can they ever be cured?
To get there, Anand draws on genetic roots, emotional detachment and socio-environmental influences, so it's not just about the biology. The talk is aimed at an older audience, with entry restricted to those aged 16 or over, and it closes with a question-and-answer session, so there's space to push back or dig deeper into anything that doesn't quite click during the main talk. If you've ever wondered why some people seem to operate on a completely different emotional frequency, this is exactly where that gets unpacked.
