Nocturnal post-punk show by San Vito (Ryder) with support from Sheffield's Drastic//Automatic at the Hallamshire Hotel.
San Vito plays the Hallamshire Hotel on Saturday 7 November, with Sheffield's own Drastic//Automatic on support. San Vito is the stage name of Ryder, a London-based alternative artist who describes his work as 'Speakeasy Punk' — a world of sleepless rooms, artificial intimacy and emotional performance. He approaches punk as an emotional language, stripped back, theatrical and psychologically exposed, and has built an underground reputation on the back of volatile live performances across the UK.
Raised between London and Cork, Ryder first emerged through London's underground scene. He's worked alongside producer Kristian Bell on a cinematic catalogue that includes Taste My Charm, Tapping Ten Trinkets, Cold Teeth and the forthcoming single Room Two Five. The sound he builds from there is nocturnal rock 'n' roll shaped by post-punk minimalism and gothic tension, so the set should sit somewhere between the starkness of the post-punk tradition and the more dramatic, theatrical side of alternative rock.
