One-day pop-up by the Britpop band Pulp at The Hallamshire Hotel, with a jukebox programmed by Jarvis Cocker and Pulp merchandise.
Pulp are taking over The Hallamshire Hotel on West Street for a one-day pop-up on Friday 30 October. It's a Sheffield homecoming for the band that started right here, and the whole pub will be dedicated to them for the day.
If you're wondering what that actually looks like, it follows the same format as their pop-up at The Rat & Pigeon in Manchester back in August. That one drew queues halfway down the street, with a jukebox programmed by Jarvis Cocker and the walls plastered in Pulp merchandise and imagery from across the band's career. Expect a similar setup here: the music Cocker put together and the walls covered in the band's history.
The Hallamshire itself is one of the best-known pubs on West Street, opened in 1903 and still running as a grassroots music venue. It's a fitting spot for a band that grew out of the city. Pulp formed in Sheffield in 1978 when Cocker was fifteen, starting with school friend Peter Dalton and eventually becoming one of the city's most successful musical exports, with hits like 'Common People' and 'Disco 2000' leading the way.

They've been back in the city recently, too. They played a headline slot at Tramlines Festival in 2025, and their history is charted in the film What Do You Do For An Encore?. This pop-up is the next chapter in that return, bringing the band's story back to a Sheffield pub for a single day. It's on Friday 30 October at The Hallamshire Hotel, West Street.
