Iyengar yoga Exchange of Learning day led by Frances Homewood on the theme 'PrÄnÄyÄma', for teacher training.
SADIY is holding another Exchange of Learning day at the Sheffield Iyengar Yoga Centre on Sunday 31 January 2027, from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm, with a short lunch break in the middle. This one is led by Frances Homewood and centres on PrÄnÄyÄma, the practice of breath control.
If you're not familiar with the name, SADIY stands for Sheffield and District Iyengar Yoga. They've been coordinating Iyengar yoga events across the city since 2001, and through their affiliation with Iyengar Yoga (UK), they bring in teaching from the wider Iyengar family and the Indian teachers who keep developing the practice. The style itself is known for its focus on body alignment, precision and attention to detail, with the aim of uniting body, mind and spirit through the practice of asanas.
These Exchange of Learning days took over from the old Professional Development Days, and the shift in name reflects a change in focus: rather than a broad range of topics, each day now centres on a single theme. This one is PrÄnÄyÄma, so you'll spend the day working through that rather than jumping between different subjects. It's five hours of learning in total, which counts towards the ten hours of specialised training required for the 2026-27 Iyengar Yoga (UK) teacher renewal, though the session itself isn't assessed.
