Live gig by the multi-award-winning Irish folk rock quartet Roving Crows at The Greystones.
Roving Crows play The Greystones on Friday 6 November, starting at 8:00pm. They're a multi-award-winning Irish folk rock quartet from Malvern, and they've been playing together for over ten years, though the line-up has shifted a few times along the way. Their sound sits at the louder end of the Celtic folk tradition, built around fiery fiddle playing, driving drums and bass, and lyrics that don't shy away from talking about injustice and societal imbalance.
They tour quite a bit across the UK and France, and their most recent album, Awaken, came out in March 2022. The critics have a few ways of describing what they do: Mike Davies of folking.com called it "an adventurous and inspired heady cocktail of Celtic and World music with a social conscience"; Liverpool Sound & Vision went with "a Celtic infusion and influence"; and RnR magazine described them as a "Celtic Rock powerhouse".

Between the fiddle and the rhythm section, the set leans more towards the rock side of the folk-rock divide than the folk side, and the lyrics keep it grounded in the real world. If you're into Celtic music but prefer it with a full band behind it rather than just a few acoustic instruments, this is exactly that sort of thing. The Greystones is on Greystones Road, S11 7BS, and tickets are £17.60, which includes the booking fee. The music starts at 8:00pm.
