Roller Disco

Skate Central is hosting another roller disco on Friday 6 November, with the session running from 19:00 to 21:30. It's one of their regular public nights, so if you've been meaning to get back on wheels, this is a straightforward way to do it.

For those who haven't been, Skate Central is on Queens Road (S2 4DF). It opened to the public in the summer of 2005 on the site of the Silver Blades ice rink, which had been running in the city since 1968. These weekly public roller disco sessions are just one part of what goes on there; they also do children's birthday parties, roller hockey, and roller derby leagues, and the arena regularly stages music concerts as well as professional and amateur boxing events. It's a proper multi-use space, so the disco is just one of the things that keeps the floor busy throughout the week.

On the night, tickets are £6, and if you don't have your own skates, hire is £2. There's a cloakroom for £1, and on-site parking is chargeable. The whole thing runs from 18:45, with the actual session from 19:00 to 21:30, so you've got a good window to get sorted before the skating starts. If you're coming from across town, keep in mind that parking costs extra, so you might want to factor that in.
