One-night-only takeover of the Sidney & Matilda basement with a Working Men's Club DJ set and Matthew Hum.
RECØMPØSE brings Working Men's Club to Sidney & Matilda on Saturday 17 October, with Mathew Hum joining them. It's a one-night-only takeover of the venue's basement, and the main draw is a DJ set from Working Men's Club, who've spent the last few months taking their genre-blurring electronica back on the road.
They're known as the Samuel Worth Chapel graveyard sessionists, a name that hints at the kind of space they've come from. This date follows their recent takeover of The System, and they're continuing that run with this basement set in Sheffield. It's a DJ set rather than a live band performance, so the focus is on the mix and the dancefloor rather than a stage.
Mathew Hum is on the bill too, and the two have a history that goes beyond this one night: together they run Everything is True at the Golden Lion in Todmorden, so they're used to sharing a line-up. Working Men's Club have also put out a new single recently, which should be in the mix alongside the rest of their material.
