Auction of Pride of Yorkshire sculptures benefiting Sheffield Children's Hospital at the Crucible Theatre.
Pride of Yorkshire comes to a close at the Crucible Theatre on Sunday 18 October, with an auction of the trail's sculptures. It's the grand finale of what's been the UK's largest charity sculpture trail, put on by the Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity to mark 150 years of the Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust.
If you've been following the trail since it launched, you'll know the scale of it. From June to September 2026, 300 life-sized lions, lionesses and cubs stood across South Yorkshire. The 150 adults were painted by artists from the region and beyond, while the 150 cubs were decorated by schools and community groups, who got to keep their creations. It follows in the paw prints of the city's previous trails, the Bears of Sheffield in 2021 and the Herd of Sheffield in 2016.
This auction is where the trail reaches its end, and every penny raised goes towards transforming the Emergency Department at Sheffield Children's Hospital into a calm, child-friendly space for young people in need of urgent care. The charity has been raising vital funds for the hospital for 50 years, so there's a long history behind the work. The auction is the final chapter of the whole project, with the proceeds going straight to that new space for the children's ED.
