A festive disco night with Pete McKee and DJ Adam Morley, featuring chart hits from the 70s and 80s, Christmas lights, and vintage arcade machines.
Pete McKee is taking over The Steamworks on Friday 18 December for a Christmas Youth Club Disco, presented by The Leadmill. It's a night that's grown from a trip back to the youth club into one of Sheffield's most talked-about nights, with a string of sold-out events and packed dance floors behind it.
McKee, a local legend and Sheffield pop artist, is the main draw here. He'll be spinning from his own vinyl collection, pulling choice cuts from the 70s and 80s, and he's joined by Leadmill veteran DJ Adam Morley. Together they're turning the clock back to the glory days of the youth club, with four hours of chart-topping hits and throwbacks to keep the dance floor going. If you've spent any time in the city's music scene, you'll know the Leadmill connection, and having both McKee and Morley on the decks should give you a good idea of the sound.
It's a festive one, too. The room is transformed into a Christmas wonderland of lights and seasonal sparkle, and the music isn't the only thing to do. Vintage arcade machines will be running throughout the night, and pizzas are available to grab whenever you need a break from the dancing. It's as much about the atmosphere as the records, so it works just as well if you're there for the nostalgia as for the music.
