Northern Ballet's new staging of Swan Lake, choreographed by Rachel Beaujean and co-produced with Ballet de l'OpƩra National de Bordeaux, with a live orchestra.
Northern Ballet bring Swan Lake to The Lyceum from Thursday 21 to Saturday 23 October 2027, a new staging of the classic story. It's a co-production with Ballet de l'OpƩra National de Bordeaux, choreographed by Rachel Beaujean, with sets and costumes by Colin Richmond.
This isn't just a repeat of the version you might know. Beaujean's production reimagines the story while keeping its dramatic weight, and it gives Odette her voice back in a world that tries to deny her. Raised as a swan, Odette's transformation back into a young woman brings love and heartbreak as her mother seeks to use her to take revenge on the King who usurped her throne. It's a familiar tale, but told from a slightly different angle.
One of the biggest draws here is the music: Tchaikovsky's score is played live by a full orchestra, so you'll hear it as it was intended rather than from a recording. The whole thing runs around two hours and twenty minutes, including an interval.
