Free guided tour of the Sheffield Botanical Gardens, presented by Friends of the Botanical Gardens Sheffield for National Tree Week.
Friends of the Botanical Gardens Sheffield are running a guided tour of the Sheffield Botanical Gardens on Tuesday 24 November, from 1 pm to 2 pm. It's part of National Tree Week, and the walk is built around a specific monthly focus, so you'll be following a particular theme rather than just a random stroll. You'll wander through the gardens and stop at some of the site's most magnificent, rare and unusual trees, with the guides pointing out what makes them stand out from the rest.
It's a slow-paced hour, and because it's a guided walk, you'll get the stories behind the trees rather than just reading the labels. If you've spent time in the gardens before, it's a good way to see things you might have walked past a dozen times without really noticing. The gardens are open to everyone, but this puts a bit of a spotlight on the collection for the week.
Meeting is at the entrance to The Dorothy Fox Education Centre, which is at the top of the slope from the Thompson Road Gates off Ecclesall Road. If you're coming from that direction, you'll find it just up the rise. The tour runs from 1 pm to 2 pm, so it's a lunchtime thing that doesn't take up your whole afternoon.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Sheffield and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

There's a suggested donation of £3, and cash donations are welcome on the day. It's a free guided tour in connection with National Tree Week, so you can just turn up and join in. The whole thing lasts an hour, starting at the Dorothy Fox Education Centre in the Sheffield Botanical Gardens on Tuesday 24 November at 1 pm.
