Talk by Neil Horsley on the restoration and repurposing of industrial mills, part of the Mills Transformed project and The Victorian Society's events.
Neil Horsley brings his project Mills Transformed to the Showroom Cinema on Tuesday 13 April, as part of The Victorian Society's events in Sheffield. It's a talk and presentation drawn from four years of work documenting the restoration and repurposing of industrial mills, and it's the Sheffield stop of a tour that's been running across 2026 and 2027.
The core of the project comes from Horsley's interviews with mill renovators, and he uses those conversations to outline how more of these buildings can be regenerated and put to new use. It's a look at the practical side of saving old industrial sites, rather than just the theory of it, and it's presented as a series of talks and presentations. Before it reaches Sheffield, the project has been shown at the Grove Centre in Horsforth and the Ilkley Camera Club in Addingham, so this is one of its later dates.
