Stand-up show by comedian Micky Overman, coming off his successful tour, at Sheffield Plate.
Micky Overman is playing Sheffield Plate on Friday 19 November 2027, with the show starting at 19:30. He's bringing a brand new stand-up show called Don't Threaten Me With A Good Time, which he describes as asking how to make sense of a world that keeps getting worse when your own life keeps getting better.
It's a new piece of material, and Overman has a long history of building his work through the Edinburgh Fringe. He's run shows there across several years: Sweet Things in 2017, Role Model in 2018, Presenting Miss Micky Overman in 2019, Small Deaths in 2022, The Precipice in 2023, and Hold On in 2024. This one follows a successful tour that ended with a sold-out show at the Royal Theater CarrΓ© in Amsterdam, so it's a fresh start after a big run.
If you've followed him since the Fringe days, you'll recognise the pattern: he spends years developing different shows, and Don't Threaten Me With A Good Time is the latest in that sequence. The title sets the tone, and the premise β that gap between a world in decline and a personal life that's actually going well β is the thread he works through. It's a new show, so you'll be hearing it as it's being toured.
