Festive Christmas party with a Motown-inspired soundtrack at The OEC in Sheffield.
The OEC is hosting the Merry Motown Christmas Party on Thursday 17 December, a night that puts a Motown soundtrack at the centre of a Christmas party. It's a mid-week date, so if you're looking for something to do before the weekend kicks in, this sits right in the middle of the festive run.
The music is the main thing here. The night is built around the Motown sound — the soulful, danceable pop that came out of Detroit in the sixties — and the whole thing is framed as a Christmas party, so it's as much about the atmosphere as it is about the songs. It's the kind of evening that works whether you're going with a group or just turning up for the music.
They've described it as a festive evening of soulful music and holiday cheer, and that's pretty much the whole pitch: Motown songs played in a Christmas party setting. If you've got a soft spot for the old Motown records, that's the core of what you'll be hearing throughout the night.
