Free guided wellness walk along the Sheffield & Tinsley Canal towpaths from Meadowhall South to Rotherham, part of the Canal & River Trust's 'Let's Activity' campaign.
Let's Walk! Sheffield Wellness Walks are heading towards Rotherham on Thursday 26 November, starting from the Meadowhall South Tram stop on Meadowhall Road (S9 1EP). It's a guided walk along the Sheffield & Tinsley Canal towpaths, running from 11am to 1pm.
The walk is part of the 'Let's Activity' campaign run by the Canal & River Trust, a free waterways and wellbeing initiative the charity uses to get people out, active and spending time by the water. These are led by walk leaders along the canal towpaths, and they're pitched as a relaxing step into nature and a chance to meet others and make new friends, with local history and wildlife to spot around every turn. It's a slow-paced way to see a part of the city you might usually only pass in a car.
They suit adults and supervised children from seven years old upwards, so it works as a family thing on a weekday morning if you've got the time. Walk-ins aren't accepted, so you'll need to book your time slot in advance. The organisers advise bringing comfortable footwear, weather-appropriate clothing and a bottle of water — the sort of things you'd want for any morning out on the towpaths in late November.
