Free guided wellness walk along the Sheffield & Tinsley Canal, part of the Canal & River Trust's Let's Activity campaign.
Let's Walk! Sheffield Wellness Walks kicks off from the Meadowhall South Tram stop on Thursday 8 October, starting at 11:00 and running for about two hours. It's a guided walk along the Sheffield & Tinsley Canal, and it's part of the Canal & River Trust's Let's Activity campaign — a free waterways and wellbeing initiative the charity runs to get people out, active and spending a bit more time by the water.
The walk is led by walk leaders who keep things at a relaxed pace. They describe the sessions as a relaxing step into nature and a chance to meet others and make new friends, so it's as much about the company as the walking. Along the towpaths, you can pick up some local history or spot wildlife as you go, and the route is easy grade, which means it's suitable for adults and for supervised children from seven years old upwards. If you're not usually one for long walks, this is a gentle way to get into it.

It's worth remembering that you'll be outdoors for the whole two hours, so come prepared. The organisers advise bringing comfortable footwear, clothing that works for the weather, and a bottle of water. The meeting point is the Meadowhall South Tram stop on Meadowhall Road, Sheffield S9 1EP, so you can get there easily by tram. The walk is free, though you do need to book your place in advance.
