Free guided walk led by Canal & River Trust volunteers along the Sheffield and Tinsley Canal at Victoria Quays, with wildlife spotting.
Let's Walk: Historic Canal Walk (Victoria Quays) is back on Thursday 5 November, with volunteers from the Canal & River Trust leading a guided walk along the Sheffield and Tinsley Canal. It's part of the Trust's free 'Let's Activity' campaign, a waterways and wellbeing initiative that encourages people to get out, get active and learn to paddle. The walk itself is free to join, and it's run on the first and third Thursday of each month, so if you can't make this one, there's usually another coming up soon.
The route follows the canal at Victoria Quays, where the volunteers unpick more than 200 years of history. It's not just about the old stories, though; the sessions double as local wildlife spotting on the water, so keep an eye out for what's moving around the canal as you go. It's a slow-paced way to see a part of the city you might usually just drive past.
There are a couple of practical things to keep in mind before you head out. The route isn't accessible for wheelchairs or pushchairs because of cobbles and stairs, so it's not one for the pram or the chair. And if you're bringing children, they'll need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
