The rapper and producer celebrates the 10th anniversary of The Queen's Speech series with a special run of intimate headline shows, supported by Nicole Blakk.
Lady Leshurr plays Sidney & Matilda on Wednesday 21 October, part of a run of intimate headline shows marking the tenth anniversary of The Queen's Speech. The Sheffield date is presented by Gotobeat, with Nicole Blakk on the bill too.
If you're not familiar with the name, Lady Leshurr is the stage name of Malesha O'Garro, a Birmingham rapper, producer and TV presenter. Her sound pulls from grime and UK garage, with her Kittitian roots woven in. The The Queen's Speech series of episodic freestyles went viral in 2016, and that's what landed her a record deal with RCA and an MOBO Award. Since then, she's kept at it, refining the witty, sometimes high-speed wordplay that made the series a thing in the first place. This autumn tour is built around that anniversary, taking the material into smaller rooms rather than big halls.

Sidney & Matilda is a good fit for that. It opened in 2018 in a former paper factory on the edge of the city's Cultural Industries Quarter, founded by artist, curator, producer and entrepreneur Al Daw to challenge traditional hierarchical models in the art and music worlds. It works as a bar, gig venue, comedy club, sociable courtyard and occasional gallery, so it's one of those spaces that does a few things at once. The show starts at 18:30, and tickets are £25.66.
